BACHELOR of ARTS (including Vernacular Musics)
The VMC is the institutional home of Texas Tech's innovative MUBA: the Bachelor of Arts Degree, which facilitates concentrations on Vernacular Music and Dance, Arts Practice Research, historically-informed performance, and/or interdisciplinary investigation. Undergraduate students desiring a degree in music but with a special interest in music and dance related to these fields may elect for this Bachelor of Arts (as opposed to the School of Music's Bachelor of Music); in turn, MUBA students have a much greater degree of flexibility in selecting and combining courses from within and beyond the School of Music to fulfill their curricula. The MUBA is a highly innovative degree and provides unique opportunities for qualified students. MUBA students typically are heavily involved in VMC initiatives and ensembles; many are likewise involved in creative activity and Arts Practice Research.
