MUBA REQUIREMENTS

Minimum 42 hours of music courses, including 18 at junior/senior level.

Includes a minor

Must fulfill requirements for BA degree


  • MUSI1200 Introduction to Research and Style Analysis; Music research, reading, writing, and study skills required for academic success
  • MUHL2301 Music as Cultural History: The Common-Practice Period; Survey of music history, culture and style from 1650-1880
  • MUHL2302 Music as Cultural History: The Early Period;  Survey of music history, culture and style from antiquity-1650
  • MUHL2303 Music as Cultural History: The Modern Period;  Survey of music history, culture and style from 1880-present
  • MUTH 1103 Elementary Aural Skills I;  Dictation, sight-singing, and keyboard skills
  • MUTH 1303 Elementary Music Theory I;  Melody, rhythm, and diatonic harmony
  • MUTH 1104 Elementary Aural Skills II;  Dictation, sight-singing, and keyboard skills
  • MUTH 1304 Elementary Music Theory II;  Melody, rhythm, and diatonic harmony
  • MUTH 2103 Intermediate Aural Skills I;  Dictation, sight-singing, and keyboard skills
  • MUTH 2303 Intermediate Music Theory I;  Diatonic and chromatic harmony
  • MUTH 2104 Intermediate Aural Skills II;  Dictation, sight-singing, and keyboard skills
  • MUTH 2304 Intermediate Music Theory II;  Diatonic and chromatic harmony
  • MUTH 3303 Form, Analysis, and Synthesis;  The analysis and synthesis of Classical, Romantic, Impressionist, and Contemporary styles, including harmonic and non-harmonic practices and the principles of both small and large part-forms. May be an individual study course.
